Jamie Lee Curtis has hit out at a critic over their Freakier Friday assessment.
The movie sees Curtis reprise her position from the 2003 Disney comedy alongside Lindsay Lohan. They play a mom and daughter whose our bodies have been swapped because of a mysterious fortune cookie.
Since its launch on Friday (August 8), critics have been weighing in on the sequel, with one explicit assessment catching Curtis’s consideration.
Time Journal shared an excerpt of their take, written by Stephanie Zacharek, on Instagram. The assessment learn: “Nobody, so far as we all know, really requested Disney for a sequel to 2003’s buoyant, surprisingly unsyrupy generation-gap comedy ‘Freaky Friday.’”
“Ugly costumes, humiliating situations, and 0 added worth – it is a sequel with the only function of cashing in on the fondness folks have for the unique film and nothing extra,” it continued. “The worst half is, ‘Freakier Friday’ arrived in a pack of different sequels with genuinely recent takes on their unique supply materials.”
Curtis responded by commenting on the put up, writing: “SEEMS a TAD HARSH. SOME folks LOVE it. Me being one.”
The movie was formally introduced final March, and it’s directed by Nisha Ganatra, who has beforehand helmed the movies Late Evening and The Excessive Word, in addition to episodes of HBO’s Intercourse And The Metropolis spinoff And Simply Like That.
The movies are primarily based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel Freaky Friday, with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris starring within the first characteristic movie model in 1976.
In a three-star assessment of Freakier Friday, NME wrote: “It’s heaps of enjoyable watching Curtis chuck herself across the set within the title of slapstick as Lohan delivers the kind of poised efficiency she constructed her profession on 20 years in the past.
